Tyson Bagent had a special guest in attendance for his NFL debut

After making his NFL debut on Sunday against the Vikings, Bears’ backup quarterback
Tyson Bagent
mentioned that his father was present at
Soldier Field
to witness this special moment.

“My pops is here, a couple of my friends are here, and my godparents are here,” Bagent shared with reporters.

The undrafted rookie entered the game in the third quarter after
Justin Fields exited with a dislocated right thumb.

On his first snap, Bagent connected with Velus Jones Jr. for a 6-yard gain. However, he was quickly sacked and fumbled the ball. The Vikings recovered and scored, which ultimately decided the outcome of the game.

Despite the setback, Bagent bounced back and
led a nine-play, 77-yard touchdown drive
in which he completed all four of his passes for 55 yards. He concluded the drive with a 1-yard touchdown run on a quarterback sneak.

However, with an opportunity to lead a game-winning drive, he underthrew D.J. Moore and was intercepted by Byron Murphy Jr. with two minutes remaining, solidifying the Bears’ eventual 19-13 loss.

“I’m extremely grateful for my family and for all the relationships that have led me to this moment,” Bagent expressed.

Overall, the second-string quarterback delivered a respectable performance, accumulating 58 passing yards and 46 rushing yards. Nevertheless, the Bears will rely on Bagent even more if Fields is sidelined for an extended period.
