Trick-or-Treat with the Mavericks

MANKATO, Minn. (KEYC) – In an enchanting display of community spirit, nearly 1,000 individuals turned up in full costume to partake in a unique trick-or-treating experience with the esteemed Maverick athletes.

“This wonderful event offers young children an incredible opportunity to explore the world of Maverick sports and engage in new activities. It’s truly a fantastic way for them to witness firsthand what Maverick sports is all about,” expressed Taylor Otremba, a forward for the MSU women’s hockey team.

Each team curated their own engaging setup, where eager trick-or-treaters had the chance to participate in various sports activities and collect delicious treats in return.

“I had an absolute blast playing tennis! It was so much fun passing the balloon back and forth,” exclaimed one enthusiastic trick-or-treater named Charlotte Dick.

Excitement filled the air as another trick-or-treater, Ellie Dick, revealed, “I absolutely love the lively atmosphere and, of course, the candy!”

Meeting their favorite Maverick athletes brought immense joy to the children.

“It’s truly amazing to see athletes dedicating their time to help other kids discover and enjoy sports,” shared Ellie Dick with admiration.

Not only did the kids get the chance to explore baseball, hockey, football, and more, but this event also fostered social interaction and provided an opportunity to meet new people.

Otremba observed, “It’s a brilliant way for the children to socialize, interact, try new sports, and have a blast while running around and having fun.”

An impressive 19 out of the 20 Maverick teams were represented at the event. The soccer team, unfortunately, was absent as they were competing against Bemidji State.
