Top-rated safety Trajen Greco announces decommitment from Georgia Tech

Following his initial commitment to the Yellow Jackets in June, four-star safety Trajen Greco from Hoschton (Ga.) Mill Creek has informed On3 that he has decommitted from Georgia Tech.

On3 rates Greco more highly than any other major recruiting service, ranking him as the No. 126 overall prospect in the 2024 On300. He is also considered the No. 9 safety and the No. 15 recruit from Georgia.

Reflecting on his decision, Greco stated, “It’s all positive. I’m thankful for the opportunity I got with Georgia Tech. It’s nothing personal, really. I feel like I rushed my decision in June and I didn’t give myself the chance to explore enough opportunities and stuff. So I want to be able to get out of my comfort zone, view some other places and just face the challenge, really, to be honest.”

Final decision on the horizon

Greco has already taken an official visit to Tulane and made an unofficial visit to Missouri in November. These two schools, along with Georgia Tech and Kentucky, are still in contention for Greco’s commitment.

Mill Creek emerged victorious in a state title last season, but their current season came to an end with a loss to Camden County in the quarterfinals. Now, Greco is focused on making his decision.

“The final decision is just being able to challenge myself and be able to get developed,” Greco said. “Just be able to make it to the next level after college football. That’s the end goal for most recruits. Just being able to go to a program that could develop me and make me a better person, get me out of my comfort zone and just get me where I want to be.”

Greco currently holds an On3 NIL Valuation of $65,000. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
