As we continue to enjoy the festivities of Thanksgiving and Black Friday, the Miami Dolphins are set to carry on their exceptional 2023 season today as they face off against the New York Jets.
With the stretch run approaching, it’s never too early to start looking ahead.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, and staying on the topic of looking ahead, the Dolphins’ coaching staff could have more to be thankful for in the coming year.
It would be a bittersweet moment for the Dolphins to potentially lose some of their coaching staff to other teams, but it’s possible that three individuals could be in line for promotions if the team maintains its success.
First, there’s Eric Studesville, who has over 25 years of experience in the league. As the associate head coach for the Dolphins, he has primarily coached running backs during his tenure. Although he’s been in Miami for seven seasons, this is the first time he’s held the title of associate head coach.
Working alongside Mike McDaniel, Studesville has gained valuable knowledge that could pave the way for him to take on an offensive coordinator role elsewhere. His expertise in the running back position and offenses at large, coupled with his experience under McDaniel, positions him well for a larger role in the future.
Studesville has effectively coached the Dolphins’ running backs through injuries, allowing McDaniel to instill a “next man up” mentality. With Miami excelling on the ground, especially in yards per carry, under this scheme, Studesville’s experience and leadership make him a strong candidate for an offensive coordinator position, a role he previously shared in Miami back in 2021.
