Tom Cruise ‘lends’ Mission: Impossible crew to Rick Astley for new music video amid Hollywood strikes

Rick Astley has enlisted the help of Tom Cruise’s esteemed Hollywood film crew to create his latest music video.

The iconic singer, Rick Astley, known for his hit song “Never Gonna Give You Up,” revealed last week that he had secured Simon Pegg as the director for his new single, “Forever and More.”

During a recent appearance on BBC Breakfast, Astley shared that he and Pegg had connected at a music festival and decided to collaborate.

Astley expressed his excitement about working with Pegg, stating, “He came up with a brilliant concept and script. It was an amazing experience shooting the video together.”

Simon Pegg is well-known for his role as Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible franchise, alongside Tom Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt.

Astley further revealed on Breakfast that Pegg had enlisted the help of the Mission: Impossible film crew for his music video due to the ongoing SAG actors’ strike in the US.

Astley humorously commented, “We’ve gone from using iPhones to Hollywood professionals – it’s quite a leap!”

The Sun reports that Tom Cruise himself gave Pegg permission to utilize his film crew.

A source told the newspaper, “Tom has a working relationship with many crew members who have worked on his films. He wanted to support them during the strike, so he kindly allowed them to work on Rick’s video.”

Rick Astley’s music video was shot in a secret location in the UK on Monday.

Astley recently released his highly anticipated ninth studio album, “Are We There Yet?”, on 13 October.

In an interview with BBC North West Tonight, Astley expressed his gratitude for the success of his 1987 hit, “Never Gonna Give You Up,” which has led to various opportunities in his career, including his debut performance at Glastonbury.

He stated, “Without my old songs and the phenomenon of Rickrolling, I wouldn’t have been invited to Glastonbury. It was an incredibly special moment for me.”
