PITTSBURGH — — Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Will Levis experienced a moment of contemplation following a 20-16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night, marking his first defeat in the NFL.
Levis dazzled with a sensational four-touchdown performance in his debut against Atlanta on Sunday. However, his encounter with the Steelers ended in disappointment as a fourth-quarter rally was thwarted by the first interception of his career, resulting in a loss that dropped the Titans to 3-5.
“Losing is tough, especially at this level,” expressed Levis. “Securing victories is an arduous task, and when you have an opportunity like that to clinch it at the end and it slips away, the feeling is indescribable. I have to give credit to (Pittsburgh) – they made the necessary plays while we fell short.”
Levis’s NFL debut emulated the achievements of esteemed players such as Hall of Famer Fran Tarkenton with Minnesota in 1961 and Marcus Mariota with Tennessee in 2015, both of whom registered four touchdown passes.
During Thursday’s game, Levis completed 22 of 39 passes for 262 yards, but unfortunately, also threw an interception. After the game, he candidly admitted to reliving the crucial moments in his mind, particularly the game-ending interception.
“During the last play, I was simply trying to create an opportunity and imagining how things could have unfolded differently,” shared Levis. “Unfortunately, I couldn’t execute the play. I will learn from this experience and strive to improve in the future.”
