Tim Anderson thanks White Sox organization, fans in new statement – NBC Sports Chicago

Tim Anderson Expresses Gratitude to Chicago White Sox Organization and Fans

In a statement released on Monday, Tim Anderson thanked the Chicago White Sox organization and its fans after his club option for the 2024 season was declined.

In a written Instagram story post, Anderson said, “If my time in Chicago is over, I want to thank Mr. Reinsdorf and the entire White Sox organization for the opportunity to start my career and play 8 years as your shortstop. I wish my teammates great success going forward.”

Anderson also extended his heartfelt thanks to the fans for their unwavering support throughout his time with the team, stating, “A part of me will always be a south sider.”

At 30 years old, Anderson had his worst year in 2023 after several seasons as one of the sport’s most consistent contact hitters.

In 2023, Anderson struggled with a 60 OPS+, posting a .245/.286/.296 slash line and hitting just one home run. Compared to the previous year, his slugging percentage declined below his batting average, as he hit .301 in the 2022 season with a 109 OPS+.

Anderson’s struggles extended beyond the batter’s box, as his defensive performance resulted in a -0.9 defensive WAR and -1 outs above average.

Unfortunately, Anderson’s most notable moment of the year was an on-field brawl with José Ramírez of the Cleveland Guardians in August, leading to a six-game suspension.

With the White Sox declining Anderson’s $14 million option for 2024, he will now seek a one-year deal with a team in need of middle infield depth, hoping to prove that 2023 was an anomaly in his career.
