In the three-point and shooting skills contests, players were paired with assistant coaches for some exciting competition. McCabe, Butler, Alex Ruoff, and DerMarr Johnson all participated and showcased their skills. In the slam dunk contest, Farrakhan and Suemnick had an impressive back-and-forth battle, resulting in a tie. Jeremiah Bembry, a transfer from Florida State, also participated in the contest.
During the scrimmage, the teams were divided into groups of five, and a 30-minute clock was set. Notably, WVU G RaeQuan Battle did not take part in the scrimmage. Afterward, the team took time to sign autographs for the fans on the floor.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we received tonight and we are committed to making Mountaineer Nation proud,” shared WVU interim HC Josh Eilert on X (Twitter).
In the near future, West Virginia will engage in a secret scrimmage with another college basketball team. Additionally, the Mountaineers will play an exhibition game against George Mason on October 27 at the WVU Coliseum.
