Texas A&M Basketball encountered its second loss of the season when they fell to Virginia 59-47 on the road in the ACC/SEC Challenge last Wednesday. Senior guard Tyrece “Boots” Radford missed his second consecutive game due to an undisclosed injury sustained during the Aggies’ first loss to FAU.
With a 6-2 record through eight games, the upcoming schedule poses even more challenges with consecutive matchups against Memphis and Houston in the coming week. The Aggies will host Depaul (1-6) in Reed Arena on Wednesday, looking to bounce back after struggling to score consistently against the Cavaliers.
The recently updated men’s basketball poll from the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll saw the Aggies dropping six spots to No. 19. They are now the third-highest-ranked SEC team, behind Tennessee (No. 13) and Kentucky (No. 17).
Aside from Texas A&M, Kentucky, and Tennessee, both Alabama and Mississippi State have dropped out of the rankings following recent losses. The SEC has faced early season challenges, with only three ranked teams thus far.
Texas A&M is set to host Depaul on Wednesday, December 6, in College Station, TX. The game will be aired on the SEC Network at 8:00 p.m. CT.
