The Phoenix Suns and Mercury are launching a $100 million investment from their owner for a new 123,000 square foot “campus” that will house a business headquarters for the Suns and Mercury and a dedicated practice facility for the WNBA team. “It’s going to be the best of the best,” said Suns and Mercury CEO Josh Bartelstein. With the facility set to be completed by next spring and financed entirely by owner Mat Ishbia, this investment is set to bring significant benefits to the teams and the local community.
The new campus is situated within the Phoenix Warehouse District, in close vicinity to the Footprint Center on Lincoln Street. “Being right down the street is great because we can walk there,” added Suns CEO Josh Bartelstein. Another unique aspect of this investment is that the Suns and Mercury will no longer need to schedule around each other to practice, especially during the playoffs and busy game seasons.
Ishbia confirmed the fully financed campus will bring a top-notch experience to team members, including dedicated facilities for players and coaches, a player and family lounge, and no less than 24/7 court access. This plan to invest in a unique and collaborative environment for the Mercury is also seen as a step towards getting the three-time league champions back to familiar winning ways.
Besides providing superior facilities for their teams, the campus will also include indoor and outdoor courts for team members to enjoy, along with a fan store and visual presentation of the Suns and Mercury’s Ring of Honor. This strategic move by owner Mat Ishbia is not only cementing the future of the Suns and Mercury but also setting a new standard for team culture and performance in the NBA and WNBA.
