The Stewartville Tigers achieved a historic victory by winning their first-ever football State Championship in the Class AAA Title Game against Annandale, with a commanding 43-13 win on Saturday.
(ABC 6 News) — The Stewartville Tigers have won their first-ever football State Championship, defeating Annandale in the Class AAA Title Game, 43-13 on Saturday.
Stewartville started off strong with a touchdown pass from Ayden Helder to Carter Miller for 17 yards with 6:21 remaining in the first quarter.
Annandale responded with a touchdown as Conner Lampi rushed in from a yard out, tying the game at 7-7 with 1:45 left in the first quarter.
The game then turned into a defensive struggle, with the Tigers pulling ahead 14-7 off Miller’s first rushing touchdown of the day with 4:04 left before halftime.
The second half witnessed a different story as Stewartville dominated offensively in the fourth quarter.
After another Miller rushing score in the third quarter, the Tigers secured the win with three more touchdowns. Ayden Helder ran in from a yard out, and Tegan Malone caught a 44-yard pass from Helder, further solidifying their lead over Annandale.
Tarin Conlin sealed the victory with an additional touchdown as the Tigers secured their first State Championship in program history.
Helder finished with 206 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air, adding a rushing score. Miller ran for 144 yards and scored three touchdowns, while Henry Tschetter emerged as Stewartville’s leading receiver with 74 yards.
Graysen Schneider led Stewartville with seven unassisted tackles, while Isaac Larson made six total stops.
