Steph Curry doesn’t consider 2023-24 showing hottest start to NBA season – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Steph Curry Dominates in 15th NBA Season

In the 2023-24 season’s first four games, Golden State Warriors’ star Steph Curry is on fire. He’s averaging 33.5 points, shooting 55.8% from the field and 47.1% from beyond the arc. Currently, he’s the second-highest scorer in the league, sitting just behind the Dallas Mavericks’ scoring machine, Luka Dončić.

However, Curry isn’t as impressed with his hot start as others are. When asked if this is the hottest start he’s ever had, he responded with a resounding “No” (h/t The Athletic’s Anthony Slater).

The four-time NBA champion believes his hottest start was in the 2015-16 season, where he averaged 37 points, shooting 59.5% from the field and 48.8% from beyond the arc in the first four games. This included a 53-point explosion in the third game. Curry continued his hot streak throughout the season, dropping 40 or more points in 13 games and scoring at least 20 points in all but 13 of the 79 games he played. He finished the season averaging 30.1 points, shooting an impressive 50.1% from the field and 45.3% from deep.

This season, Curry is locked in and playing like it’s the playoffs. The Warriors are determined to bounce back after a disappointing second-round exit last year. In the 2022-23 season, they started with an 0-8 record on the road, which ultimately affected their performance for the rest of the season. This year, they’ve made it a priority to come together early on, especially on the road, to build confidence. So far, they’re 3-0 on the road.

Curry attributes his success to playing with confidence and having fun. He’s also excited about the team’s cohesiveness, ability to mix and match lineups, and the impact of Chris Paul running the second unit. The bench has been crucial in holding and extending leads, giving the team confidence, especially in away games.

While there’s still a long way to go, Curry and the Warriors are on the right track to compete for another championship.
