South Point 400 DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel NASCAR Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks

The NASCAR Cup Series is set to take place in Las Vegas this Sunday, kicking off the Round of 8. As the season nears its end, the competition for the NASCAR title is intensifying. Only eight drivers remain in contention for a spot in the Championship 4. This will be the second visit of the season to Las Vegas for the Cup Series. In the previous race in March, William Byron was dominant, leading 176 of 271 laps in the Pennzoil 400. The top three spots were occupied by Hendrick Motorsports drivers, with Bubba Wallace finishing fourth as the highest-placed non-Hendrick driver. Here are my NASCAR DFS lineup picks for the AutoTrader South Point 400 on DraftKings and FanDuel this week. The slate will lock at 2:48 PM ET on October 15, 2023. Kyle Larson will start in second position with a price tag of $11,000 on DraftKings and $14,000 on FanDuel. My prediction is that Larson will win Sunday’s race. Although he hasn’t won on a 1.5-mile track this season, he has come close multiple times. He led 63 laps in the first Vegas race and finished second, led 85 laps in the first Kansas race and finished second again, and led 99 laps in both the second Kansas race and the Texas race. He has one Cup Series victory at Vegas, winning the 2021 spring race after leading 103 laps, which is the most laps he has led at this track. In total, he has six top-five finishes and four other top 10s at Vegas. Larson has shown impressive speed this weekend at a track where he has historically performed well.

Chase Elliott will start in 35th position with a price tag of $9,200 on DraftKings and $10,000 on FanDuel. There is significant potential for place differential points for Elliott, as he crashed during practice and had to switch to a backup car. His starting position is much further back due to this incident. Despite not winning a race this year, Elliott has displayed strong speed recently, finishing 11th or better in seven consecutive races, including two 1.5-mile tracks. Although he did not compete in the first Vegas race this year due to an injury, his Hendrick teammates performed well, securing first, second, and third places. Elliott has three top-five finishes at Vegas, including a runner-up finish in the 2021 fall race. If he avoids any further incidents, he should be able to make up more than 20 positions on Sunday.

Kevin Harvick will start in 24th position with a price tag of $8,000 on DraftKings and $7,200 on FanDuel. Time is running out for Harvick to secure a victory in his final full-time season, as he plans to retire after this year. Although winning on Sunday would be a long shot, I believe he has a good chance of achieving a strong result at Vegas. He has won twice at this track and finished ninth in the spring race this year. He has also shown promise on 1.5-mile tracks this season, placing sixth at Texas a few weeks ago and 11th at Kansas two weeks prior. In both races, he started in the 20s. Starting in 24th position on Sunday, he has the potential to gain valuable place differential points.

Alex Bowman will start in 14th position with a price tag of $7,700 on DraftKings and $7,500 on FanDuel. Despite only securing four top 10 finishes in 29 races this season for Hendrick Motorsports, Bowman performed well at Vegas in the spring, finishing third after leading two laps. Prior to that, he won the 2022 spring race at Las Vegas, leading 16 laps. Starting in 14th position on Sunday, he has the potential to gain around 10 positions, offering valuable place differential points if he can match his performance from March.

Daniel Suarez will start in 36th position with a price tag of $7,300 on DraftKings and $6,800 on FanDuel. Similar to Chase Elliott, Suarez crashed during practice and will be starting from the back of the pack. However, the upside for Suarez is not as high as it is for Elliott. The Trackhouse car is unlikely to match the speed of Elliott’s Hendrick Motorsports machine. Nevertheless, Suarez has performed well in his last two starts at Las Vegas, leading 31 laps and finishing 16th in the 2022 fall race, and finishing 10th earlier this year. He also finished eighth a few weeks ago at another 1.5-mile track, Texas. Suarez is a must-play in Cash games due to his potential for gaining positions. If he can reach the top 15 or even the bottom half of the top 10, he will achieve a strong result.

Carson Hocevar will start in 25th position with a price tag of $6,500 on DraftKings and $6,000 on FanDuel. Hocevar has been performing well in the Legacy Motor Club 42 car, with four consecutive top-20 finishes, including a 16th-place finish at Texas in the previous race. He also gained experience at Las Vegas earlier this year by finishing seventh in the Truck Series race, leading 19 laps. In fact, he has led in three consecutive Truck Series starts at this track. Hocevar is an affordable option who can provide five to 10 place differential points.
