COLUMBIA, Mo. – Looking to bounce back after a tough loss to Florida last week, South Carolina football is gearing up for the Mayor’s Cup rivalry game against No. 20 Missouri.
The Gamecocks (2-4, 1-3 SEC) will take on the Tigers (6-1, 2-1) on Saturday in an attempt to secure their first victory in the series since 2018. While Missouri has won the last four meetings, South Carolina has emerged victorious twice at Memorial Stadium. Their latest triumph was a thrilling 37-35 shootout at Williams-Brice Stadium.
In 2022, when the Tigers had a 4-4 record coming to South Carolina, they upset the Gamecocks 23-10 on homecoming. Quarterback Spencer Rattler delivered one of his least impressive performances of the season, throwing for 171 yards without a touchdown, being sacked four times, and throwing an interception.
Under coach Shane Beamer, South Carolina has struggled in SEC road games with a record of 2-8 since 2021. The team has yet to win a road game this season, while Missouri boasts a 3-1 home record, with their only loss coming against No. 19 LSU.
