The Denver Broncos are parting ways with veteran outside linebacker Frank Clark, creating a surprising scenario, according to a source informed ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Friday.
Recently, Clark agreed to a restructured deal where he willingly returned $1.686 million of his guaranteed salary, potentially making his contract more appealing on the trade market.
This announcement comes shortly after the Broncos traded Randy Gregory to the San Francisco 49ers.
Clark’s time with the Denver Broncos was short-lived as he only managed to play in two games due to an injury. Furthermore, he was unable to participate in Thursday night’s loss against the Kansas City Chiefs due to an illness.
The Broncos acquired Clark after he was released by the Kansas City Chiefs in March following failed contract negotiations with his agent, Erik Burkhardt.
During his tenure with the Chiefs, Clark showcased his skills as a defensive end, recording 23.5 sacks in 58 regular-season games. Notably, he excelled in the postseason, accumulating 10.5 sacks across 12 playoff games. Clark’s impressive performances earned him three Pro Bowl selections within his four seasons in Kansas City.
Prior to his time with the Chiefs, Clark spent his first four seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, where he also played as a defensive end, accumulating 58.5 sacks and forcing 14 fumbles over a span of nine seasons.
