Son Heung-min and James Maddison played pivotal roles in Tottenham’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 games under manager Ange Postecoglou.

Crystal Palace executed their game plan well, defending deep in a 4-5-1 formation and looking for counter-attacking opportunities. However, they struggled to find the back of the net until it was too late. Despite Tottenham dominating possession in the first half, Crystal Palace had more shots (8-3) and managed to create chances, albeit with a low expected goal (xG) value of 0.27 compared to Tottenham’s 0.13.
The second half saw Maddison and Son find success, with Maddison almost causing an own goal from Crystal Palace’s Joel Ward. He later played a key role in setting up Son’s goal. Crystal Palace managed to pull one back in stoppage time, but controversy surrounded the decision to award the goal after video review.
