‘Sometimes it’s hard coming back in great shape’

Jan Blachowicz is of the opinion that the long layoff will have an effect on Jamahal Hill‘s match against Alex Pereira.

A lot of people anticipate that Hill (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) will be next in line to face the newly crowned light heavyweight champion Pereira (9-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC), who achieved a knockout victory over Jiri Prochazka on Nov. 11, claiming the vacant belt at UFC 295.

Having lost to Pereira in a close decision that he thought he won, Blachowicz (29-10-1 MMA, 12-7-1 UFC) believes “Poatan” has the edge over Hill, who is returning after an achilles tendon rupture that required surgery.

Blachowicz is keen on a rematch with Pereira. If he comes out on top against Aleksandar Rakic in their rematch at UFC 297 on Jan. 20, he aims to be the No. 1 contender.

Blachowicz is even willing to be the reserve fighter for the title match between Pereira and Hill, saying “I can be a backup fighter, no problem. You just sit over there waiting, watch the fight, and they give you some money. So, why not?”
