One of Bobby Charlton’s 1966 World Cup shirts is expected to fetch £100,000 at auction, following the football legend’s recent passing at 86 years old.
This iconic shirt, worn by Sir Bobby Charlton, holds sentimental value as it was worn during England’s 2-1 semi-final win over Portugal, where Sir Bobby scored both goals.
Shortly after, Sir Bobby lifted the Jules Rimet trophy at Wembley as England triumphed over West Germany with a 4-2 scoreline.
The signed shirt will be up for auction on November 14 in Etwall, Derbys, starting at £30,000. However, auctioneer Charles Hanson of Hansons Auctioneers believes the final bid could exceed his estimate of £50,000 to £80,000.

Hanson states, “This shirt serves as an eternal reminder of Sir Bobby’s immense contribution to his country.
“Ideally, it would find a home at the National Football Museum or potentially at Manchester United, to honor Sir Bobby’s legacy.”
Sir Bobby personally signed the No9 shirt and donated it to a charitable auction, where it was initially purchased by a West Midlands resident who had won a substantial lottery prize in the early 1990s.
In 2000, the shirt exchanged hands once more at a London sale for a sum of £9,200.
