Auburn may have secured the top player from the Class of 2024 during this year’s early signing period, but Stanford’s overall recruiting classes put them at the top of the competition. Anna Davis, the Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion from two editions ago and the current sixth-ranked player in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, will enroll in January and join Auburn’s team. Head coach Melissa Luellen says Davis is “The total package”, and she is expected to make a significant impact. Ann Davis’s decision to remain an amateur was a surprise to many, as she feels she has much to learn and doesn’t want to miss out on the college experience.
Stanford’s head coach Anne Walker has managed to sign four top-10 recruits, all of whom have competed in the most recent Junior Ryder Cup. Meja Ortengren leads the pack at number 10 in the world, followed by Andrea Revuelta (29), Nora Sundberg (34), and Leigh Chien (97). This signing is believed to be the first time a women’s program has ever signed four top-100 players in WAGR. Notably, even Wake Forest, currently the number one team in the country, does not have four top-100 players on its current roster.
In addition to this, Oregon has recruited the reigning U.S. Junior champ Yana Wilson, along with two other top-20 recruits. USC has also made a significant acquisition with two top-15 players, including number 6 Jasmine Koo.
