Shwartzman has “zero doubt” he is ready for WEC Hypercar move after Ferrari test

Russian-Israeli driver Shwartzman had the unique opportunity to test Ferrari’s Le Mans 24 Hours-winning LMH car at the official WEC rookie test in Bahrain just days ago following his first win at the GT World Challenge Europe series in Barcelona.

He completed 30 laps in the #51 Ferrari 499P, setting an impressive best time of 1m48.559s, leading the timesheets and outpacing Jota Porsche’s full-timer Will Stevens by 0.066s.

Shwartzman expressed his eagerness to step up to the Hypercar category in 2024 after proving his pace in the Ferrari LMH. He feels he has outgrown GTWCE and is ready for the next challenge in his racing career.

Shwartzman’s adaptability and confidence were on full display as he reflected on his previous testing experiences, showcasing his ability to quickly learn and perform in various car categories and racing formats.

As he anticipates the potential of driving Ferrari’s third LMH car in the full 2024 WEC season, Ferrari’s plans for expansion beyond their current driver lineup remain tentative.

Ultimately, Shwartzman is hopeful that his performance at the recent test will earn him consideration for driving the third LMH car, if approved by Ferrari.
