You’re not going to keep winning games, getting doubled up in shots.
The San Jose Sharks faced a tough night as they were outshot 41-18 by the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday and still managed to secure a 3-2 win. In a similar situation on Tuesday, they were outshot 39-19 by the Philadelphia Flyers and came away with a 2-1 victory.
The hope was that these hard-fought wins, which ended San Jose’s 11-game losing streak, would build the team’s confidence. It was believed that once they secured some victories, they would play better hockey.
However, their optimism was dashed as the Sharks suffered a 5-0 shutout loss to the Vegas Golden Knights, being outshot 39-20.
Although the loss was not a complete embarrassment, with San Jose keeping it close and not allowing many high-danger chances until a William Karlsson short-handed goal early in the third period, it was evident that Vegas was the superior team throughout the game.
