Shaq Leonard pays a visit to the Cowboys and scheduled to meet with multiple teams

FRISCO, Texas – In a move that caught the attention of many, the Cowboys hosted a meeting with veteran linebacker Shaquille Leonard on Tuesday, engaging in discussions with the coaching and front-office staff.

However, Leonard departed The Star later in the day without a contract, fueling speculation about potential visits to other teams in the coming days, with NFC East rival Philadelphia being a likely stop.

It has been reported that Leonard has made commitments to other teams to explore all offers before making a decision. Recently released by the Colts and now a free agent, Leonard is now free to sign with any team after clearing waivers.

Earlier in the day, owner/GM Jerry Jones addressed the meeting with Leonard during an interview on 105.3 ‘The Fan’.

“It’s not real hard to see what kind of player he’s been. He’s been outstanding,” said Jones, who also mentioned plans to have lunch with Leonard on Tuesday. “When you’ve played as long as he’s played, at the level he’s played, this isn’t a hard scouting job at all. The question is, where he is in his career and where he is health-wise. That’s what it’s all about as far as evaluating everything. The next thing is, how do you get something worked out, if in fact, all that other fits.”

Adding to the intrigue, Leonard has connections to the Cowboys’ current roster, having previously played alongside Stephon Gilmore and Malik Hooker during his time with the Colts.

Selected in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Colts, Leonard quickly made a name for himself, earning the title of NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year and multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections.
