James Harden heard chants from fans during a game against the Nets at Barclays Center referring to Daryl Morey, the president of the Philadelphia 76ers. Harden had butted heads with Morey during his time in Philadelphia, where he claimed he felt like he was “on a leash” and expressed a wish to be traded, which he eventually was to the Los Angeles Clippers. This followed a summer in which he even called Morey a “liar.” Harden also clarified his desire for more freedom and creativity in his game, explaining, “I meant that I think the game and I’m a creator on the court… (I need) somebody that trusts me, that believes in me, that understands me, that I’m not a system player. I am a system.” Despite not having a strong start with the Clippers, they lost to the New York-based teams, Harden managed to finish with 12 rebounds, eight rebounds, and five assists.

Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs suffered a lopsided 126-105 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Wembanyama was labeled “overrated” by New York fans, and despite scoring 14 points and nine rebounds, the Spurs lost to the Knicks, bringing their record down to 3-5. Meanwhile, despite Giannis Antetokounmpo’s ejection for taunting, the Milwaukee Bucks rallied past the Detroit Pistons 120-118 behind 34 points from Damian Lillard.

During a game between the Lakers and the Rockets, LeBron James and Dillon Brooks went head-to-head, reigniting a rivalry that began in last season’s playoffs. Brooks, now playing for the Rockets, had previously called James “old” and claimed, “I poke bears.” The two exchanged words during the game, with Brooks expressing his readiness to “lock (James) up.” Brooks had also received an $80 million contract from the Rockets. This rivalry has captured the attention of basketball fans and media alike, as the two players battled it out on the court.
