The Oklahoma Sooners remained undefeated with a 31-29 victory over the UCF Knights, improving their record to 7-0 on the season and 4-0 in Big 12 play. While it wasn’t a dominant performance, the Sooners were able to do enough to secure the win.
There were standout performances on both offense and defense. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel had a solid game, completing 66% of his passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns. He continues to make a case for the Heisman Trophy. In the ground game, Gavin Sawchuk and Marcus Major provided a spark in the fourth quarter, helping to lead the Sooners to a go-ahead scoring drive. Wide receiver Nic Anderson had another impressive outing, catching two touchdown passes and surpassing 100 yards receiving for the second time this season.
Defensively, Trace Ford and Ethan Downs had impactful performances off the edge, while Danny Stutsman once again led the team in tackles. Despite a penalty from Jaren Kanak, the sophomore linebacker had an overall strong game.
The Sooners’ victory was significant considering the struggles of many of the top-10 teams on the same day. It was another valuable win that keeps them undefeated and maintains their momentum.
