Imagine it as the 17th hole, for those who appreciate metaphors. It’s the stage that local teams and players are facing this week in the form of regional tournaments, the final step towards securing a spot in the state championships. Mission Inn Resort & Club will host the championships from November 7-15.
By competing in the district tournaments last week, the Volusia-Flagler squads and individuals have earned their place in the regional round. In the district tournaments, the top three teams and individuals from non-qualifying teams advanced. However, the regional round works slightly differently, with the top two teams and individuals from non-advancing squads earning entry into the state tournament. Additionally, an FHSAA formula based on regular season, district, and regional performances will determine the inclusion of eight more teams and individuals from each of the three classes.
The regional round will commence on Monday and conclude by Tuesday afternoon, determining the fate of all local teams and golfers.
