Record-setting Adolis Garcia carries Rangers past Astros into World Series

October 24 (UPI) — The Texas Rangers secured their spot in the World Series with an impressive 11-4 victory over the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series. Adolis Garcia, the star outfielder, played a crucial role in the win, hitting two home runs and driving in five runs. His outstanding performance in Game 7 pushed his ALCS RBI total to 15, breaking the record for the most RBI in a single postseason series. For his efforts, Garcia was named the ALCS MVP.

Garcia’s first home run came in the third inning, followed by another in the eighth inning. Corey Seager, the shortstop for the Rangers, also had a standout game, going 3 for 5 with a home run, RBI, and two runs scored.

The Rangers will now compete for their first-ever World Series title. They await the winner of the NLCS between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Rangers’ victory was met with celebration and determination. Third baseman Josh Jung expressed the team’s eagerness to continue their winning streak and bring home four more victories.

The game started with Seager hitting a solo home run in the second at-bat of the night. Garcia then extended the Rangers’ lead with an RBI single, followed by Mitch Garver’s RBI single to center field.

The Astros managed to cut into the deficit with an RBI single from Jose Abreu, but Garcia quickly responded with another home run in the third inning. Alex Bregman hit a solo shot for the Astros, but the Rangers dominated the fourth inning with a four-run surge.

Evan Carter’s two-run double and Garcia’s single helped the Rangers secure an 8-2 lead. Nathaniel Lowe added a two-run homer in the sixth inning, further widening the gap. Although Yordan Alvarez hit an RBI single for the Astros in the seventh, Garcia’s solo home run in the eighth extended the Rangers’ lead again.

Jose Altuve scored the final run of the night and of the Astros’ postseason with a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Both pitchers had solid performances, with Max Scherzer allowing two runs over 2 2/3 innings for the Rangers, and Cristian Javier allowing three runs in 1/3 innings for the Astros. The Rangers’ relief pitchers also played a significant role in securing the victory.

The Rangers now eagerly await the outcome of the NLCS Game 7 between the Phillies and the Diamondbacks to determine their World Series opponent.
