Razorbacks Fall to UNC Greensboro

FAYETTEVILLE – An upset took place in Bud Walton Arena as UNC Greensboro took a 14-point halftime lead and held on to defeat #14 Arkansas, 78-72, on Friday night.

Despite being down 11 (48-37) with 13:14 left, the Razorbacks managed to work their deficit to four (50-46) with 10:50 left. However, UNCG’s Joryam Saizonou hit a crucial 3-pointer and Mikeal Brown-Jones made a layup to secure an 11-point cushion with 4:49 left.

Arkansas made an effort to reduce the lead to five on two occasions, but UNCG made four free throws to seal the victory.

Arkansas scored 48 second-half points and only committed one turnover in the period. However, their 4-of-23 shooting from 3-point range for the game was insurmountable.

Keyshaurn Langley led all scorers with 23 points, while Brown-Jones added 17 and Saizonou had 12 for UNCG. The Spartans finished with 15 assists and eight steals.

Tramon Mark led the Razorbacks with 21 points, followed by El Ellis with 19 points.

Up next for the Razorbacks is the Battle 4 Atlantis in Paradise Island, Bahamas. Arkansas will face Stanford in the opening round, followed by Memphis or Michigan in the event of a win or loss.
