WINNIPEG, Manitoba — In a remarkable achievement for the Original Six team, the New York Rangers secured a 3-2 overtime victory against the Jets on Monday night. This win marked the first time in the organization’s 97-year history that they have swept a five-game road trip. Mika Zibanejad sealed the deal with a game-winning goal in the final moments of the extra period, cementing their place in the Rangers’ history books.

Zibanejad, who had not scored in the Rangers’ first seven games, expressed his excitement about finishing the road trip on a high note. He stated, “We were determined to finish it off in the right way, and I thought we did. Just battle through it and try to get these two points. This one feels really good.”

This victory held special significance for Blake Wheeler, who made his return to Winnipeg after spending 12 years with the Jets. Wheeler received a tribute video and a standing ovation from the crowd, expressing his gratitude for being part of a winning team. Artemi Panarin also contributed to the victory, extending his season-opening point streak to nine games with a goal in the first period.

Captain Jacob Trouba reflected on the team’s progress, stating, “We’re kind of figuring out the right recipe for us to win games.” This historic road trip win showcases the Rangers’ determination and growing confidence under the new coaching staff.
