RALEIGH, NC. – Pyotr Kochetkov is set to make his second consecutive start on Wednesday as the Carolina Hurricanes prepare to host the Philadelphia Flyers.
The 24-year-old goaltender delivered a stellar performance, securing a 22-save shutout against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. This marked his first start since being called up from the American Hockey League and also his first win of the season.
Carolina’s 2019 second-round pick has history with Philadelphia, having secured a shutout against them in early March during his young career.
Coach Rod Brind’Amour has stated that he does not foresee any changes in the lineup, with Jalen Chatfield and Brendan Lemieux anticipated to be the team’s healthy scratches.
While Brent Burns was absent from morning skate, he is expected to play tonight, marking his 777th consecutive game played and surpassing Craig Ramsey for the eighth-longest consecutive games played streak in NHL history.
