Miami is buzzing with excitement as teams gear up for the highly anticipated 2023 LIV Golf Team Championship. The winning team will not only earn the prestigious title but also walk away with a jaw-dropping $14 million out of the massive $50 million total purse.
Prize money for every finishing position was unveiled on Tuesday, adding to the mounting anticipation surrounding the season-ending event, which tees off on Friday at Trump National Doral’s iconic Blue Monster course.
As the tournament heats up, each of the 12 LIV Golf teams will be vying for a different prize amount based on their final position. A significant portion of the prize pool, 60% to be precise, will be allocated to the team’s account. In addition, every player on the four-man roster will receive 10% of the remaining portion.
With a first-place prize of $14 million, the team’s share amounts to a staggering $8.4 million, ensuring that each member of the victorious team walks away with a whopping $1.4 million.
The Team Championship will feature a thrilling blend of match-play and stroke play. Friday’s Quarterfinals and Saturday’s Semifinals will follow the match-play format, while Sunday’s Finals will be played using stroke play rules. Unlike last year, where only the top four teams competed on the final day, this year all 48 players from the 12 teams will participate, with every score counting.
Sunday will see the four winning teams from the Semifinals battling it out for the top four positions, while the eliminated teams from the Semifinals will compete for places 5-8. Teams that make their exit in the Quarterfinals will battle it out for places 9-12.
