Day three of the 2023 Vienna Open, also known as the Erste Bank Open, is set to commence tomorrow, Wednesday, October 25, at the Wiener Stadthalle. The top seed, Medvedev, is geared up to face the rising talent, Fils, at approximately 11:00 local time. This contest marks the World No. 3’s comeback since his shocking defeat in the second round of the Shanghai Masters. Unfortunately, Medvedev couldn’t defend his title as he was eliminated by Sebastian Korda.

Nevertheless, let’s not forget that the 27-year-old reached the final of the China Open in the previous week, hinting at his good form and the potential thirst for redemption in Vienna.

Meanwhile, Fils is determined to carry the momentum from his recent run to the final at the European Open in Antwerp. Impressive wins over World No. 7 Stefanos Tsitsipas landed him in the final, ultimately securing second place after a battle against Alexander Bublik. However, Fils has yet to face Medvedev, and the latter’s experience and consistency are likely to see him through.

Another highlight of the day will be the highly anticipated clash between World No. 4 Sinner and No. 15 Shelton. The Italian and American faced each other for the first time at the Shanghai Masters, where Shelton emerged victorious from a thrilling three-set match.

Therefore, it comes as no surprise that Sinner will seek revenge, but he may face difficulties against a motivated opponent. Shelton enters this match with the momentum of winning his first ATP title at the Japan Open last week. Both players are known for their powerful shots and serves, setting the stage for another closely contested encounter.
