Grambling State University men’s basketball head coach, Donte’ Jackson, is delighted to announce the addition of Cameron Prather to his staff as an assistant coach.
Prather joins GSU after an impressive stint as an assistant coach at Wallace State Community College, where he coached a top 100 player in NJCAA and multiple all-conference performers. During his time at Wallace State, the team boasted a commendable record of 61-27 over three years.
Prior to his tenure at Wallace State, Prather also served as an assistant coach at Athens Prep Academy in Tennessee. It was there that he played a significant role in the development of numerous Division I players such as Darlinstone Dubar, Isaac Spears, Chris Nix, Josaphat Bilau, Angelo Stuart, and Tyrus Baynam.
Before embarking on his coaching career, Prather was a standout player at Whites Creek High in Tennessee. He continued his basketball journey at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, from 2011-2015. Prather’s exceptional skills earned him the accolade of first-team all-defense in 2014. Additionally, Cumberland reached the Division II Top 25 in 2012.
Academically, Prather holds a bachelor’s degree in health and human Performance with an emphasis in sports management and a master’s degree in business administration. Prior to joining Athens Prep, he gained valuable experience as a graduate assistant for two seasons at his alma mater, Cumberland University.
