Poitras scores 1st 2 NHL goals, Bruins rally past Ducks to stay undefeated

In the 2022 NHL Draft, Boston selected 19-year-old forward Poitras in the second round at No. 54. Poitras, who scored on a rebound from Jake DeBrusk’s wrist shot, gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead at 10:20 of the third period.

Boston coach Jim Montgomery praised Poitras for his willingness to play inside the dots, stating that it is crucial for success in the league. He commends Poitras for his ability to engage in one-on-one battles in the corners and go to the hard areas of the ice.

The final score was 3-1, with Brad Marchand scoring into an empty net with 2:34 remaining.

Marchand has been exceptional this season, accumulating seven points (four goals, three assists) in five games.

Montgomery acknowledges the challenges faced by his team, playing three games in four days on the road with extensive travel. He highlights the physicality and emotion brought by the Anaheim Ducks in the game, mentioning that his team initially struggled but eventually performed better and secured a significant victory.

The game began with a power play for the Ducks, as Marchand was penalized for cross-checking defenseman Urho Vaakanainen early on.

During the first two periods, Boston’s best opportunity to score came from a shorthanded breakaway by DeBrusk, unfortunately hitting the inside of the left post.

With about 3 1/2 minutes left in the second period, Troy Terry had a potential breakaway after coming out of the penalty box. However, he couldn’t control the stretch pass from defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin, and the puck was cleared by Ullmark.

Ducks forward Ryan Strome acknowledges that his team is close to achieving their goals but believes they need to dig deeper and find a way to make timely plays in order to succeed.

At 5:05 of the third period, McTavish gave the Ducks a 1-0 lead. He assisted Strome, whose wrist shot from the right circle was initially saved, but McTavish managed to push the rebound off the left post and across the goal line.
