The Florida State High School Athletic Association golf tournaments have all concluded. Wrapping up the Class 1A tournament, Pensacola Catholic’s Islay Benoit finished in a four-way tie for 23rd at the state tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday with a two-round score of 149 (74, 75). Benoit tied with Circle Christian’s Angelina Pacheco, First Baptist (Naples)’s Eva Lye, and First Academy’s Angela Wang. Benoit’s performance at the Las Colinas course at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills included a strong start with a birdie and some bogeys before a flawless back-nine on Wednesday. She even managed to sign her letter of intent to join the Florida Gulf Coast University women’s golf team. Benoit led her team to a second-place finish in the District 1-1A tournament and claimed low medalist honors at the Region 1-1A tournament.
