Patriots rookie Kayshon Boutte ‘trending in the right direction’

The Kayshon Boutte saga has garnered international attention.

During his press conference at the DFB Campus in Germany, Bill Belichick was asked about the possibility of the rookie wide receiver returning to the field for the first time since Week 1.

Belichick responded, “We’ll see how all that goes. Kayshon’s had a good couple weeks here. It’s definitely trending in the right direction. That’s been good.”

Before last week’s game against the Washington Commanders, Belichick had mentioned that Boutte had his “best week” of practice so far. Despite this, the receiver remained a healthy inactive for the eighth consecutive week.

Boutte has not seen the field since Week 1, where he was targeted four times but failed to make any receptions, including a crucial fourth-down pass that he was unable to keep inbounds.

Last week, with DeVante Parker sidelined due to injury, New England turned to other receivers, which did not result in success. This week, with Parker out again, Boutte might have an opportunity to return to the field.

During practice in Frankfurt, Boutte was seen on the field with Mac Jones and the first-team offense, indicating a potential return to game action.

As a former five-star recruit and once a top NFL Draft prospect, Boutte’s potential was evident during training camp and preseason, particularly in a game against the Green Bay Packers where he scored a touchdown.

It will be valuable to see Boutte in action again and assess the potential he brings to the struggling offense.
