Oklahoma Sooners Make Impressive Climb to AP Top 25 After Weekend Victory

The 2023-2024 basketball season is witnessing the Oklahoma Sooners take the lead by storm. They remain undefeated at 6-0 and recently secured a thrilling last-second victory over the USC Trojans, grabbing a top-25 win. They’ve also impressively held the Iowa Hawkeyes, one of the best offenses in the nation, to just 67 points in the Rady Children’s Invitational.

Due to their impressive start, the Sooners have entered the AP Top 25 at No. 25, marking the first time in the Porter Moser era. Notably, Kansas is placed at No. 4, Houston at No. 5, Baylor at No. 8, and the Texas Longhorns at No. 16, making them the other notable Big 12 teams included in this week’s rankings.

In the point-scoring department, the Sooners are averaging 84.2 points per game through six games. Otega Oweh leads with 15 points per game, followed by Javian McCollum at 13.3. Moreover, the Sooners rank 24th in the nation in field goal percentage, shooting an impressive 50.4% from the field.

Next, the Sooners are set to hit the court on Thursday evening at the Lloyd Noble Center, where they’ll face off against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
