Northwestern’s Ben Bryant made a triumphant return from injury with two touchdown passes and one rushing score, leading the visiting team to a 24-10 victory over Wisconsin on Saturday. The dominating first half performance gave Northwestern its first true road game win in 14 attempts.
Bryant, who had missed the last four games due to an upper-body injury, completed 18 of 26 passes for 195 yards. Northwestern (5-5, 3-4 Big Ten) took a commanding 24-3 lead at halftime. Bryant previously played for current Wisconsin coach Luke Fickell at Cincinnati before transferring to Northwestern.
Despite a late touchdown run by Jackson Acker, Wisconsin (5-5, 3-4) suffered its third consecutive loss and fourth defeat in its last five games.
Northwestern’s exceptional offense converted its first 10 third-down opportunities, while its defense outperformed the Badgers in the first half with a ground game superiority of 125-14 yards.
Wisconsin started strong with an early field goal but struggled to keep up with the Wildcats’ relentless offensive prowess. Quarterback Tanner Mordecai, making a comeback after a three-game absence due to a broken throwing hand, completed 31 of 45 passes for 255 yards for Wisconsin.
