Anna Swan, a North East golfer, concluded her career with a spectacular performance, marking her swan song. Swan, along with her older sister Lydia Swan, achieved gold medalist status in the PIAA Class 2A girls tournament. Starting the final round just one stroke behind the leader, Anna Swan showcased her skills on Penn State University’s White Course, securing a 1-under par 143 over 36 holes with three birdie fours.
Swan’s overall score was two strokes better than Kate Sowers from West Middlesex and Hannah Rabb from Warrior Run, both of whom finished with scores of 1-over 145. Notably, Lydia Swan claimed the 2A girls state title in 2019 and is currently a sophomore on Oral Roberts University’s Division I women’s golf team. Anna Swan plans to join her sister at the same university next fall, having already committed to Oral Roberts earlier this season.
In addition to Anna Swan’s victory, Hickory’s Luciana Masters tied for sixth place with a score of 7-over 151, while Sasha Petrochko, also from Hickory, finished eighth with a 9-over 153. District 10 had several other representatives in the top 20, including Kaitlyn Hoover from Wilmington (10th, 14-over 158), Katie Caryl from Mercyhurst Prep (t-11th, 15-over 159), Cora Hirz from Fairview (t-14th, 19-over 163), and Ava Liburdi, also from Hickory (t-17th, 22-over 166).
