NBC Sports Bay Area
SANTA CLARA — Nick Zakelj, backup offensive lineman for the 49ers, sustained a torn biceps during the 49ers’ game on Sunday in Jacksonville, and will undergo season-ending surgery.
Zakelj played six snaps on special teams in the 49ers’ 34-3 victory over the Jaguars. The 49ers are currently evaluating options to replace Zakelj on the 53-man roster, with Jesse Davis, Henry Byrd, Ilm Manning, and Corey Luciano being considered.
Right tackle Colton McKivitz was expected to have limited participation in Wednesday’s practice due to ankle and knee issues. However, he is expected to return to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, with Matt Pryor or Jaylon Moore being the potential backup options.
Left tackle Trent Williams did not aggravate his ankle sprain and is expected to return to practice Thursday and Friday, playing in Sunday’s game.
Left guard Aaron Banks remains out with a toe injury. Jon Feliciano will likely get his second consecutive start in place of Banks.
Defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who sustained a knee injury during Sunday’s game, is sore but otherwise in good condition. Backup linebacker/special teams contributor Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles has returned to limited practice after missing Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.
Defensive end Robert Beal, and cornerbacks Sam Womack and Darrell Luter remain on injury lists and were scheduled for a full practice last week.
