The NFL has officially extended commissioner Roger Goodell’s contract through 2027.

At Wednesday’s league meeting, the NFL’s compensation committee informed team ownerships about the agreement.

Roger Goodell, in a news conference, chose not to confirm if this would be his final term as NFL commissioner. With the contract extension, his tenure will span over 20 years.

Nevertheless, there is a precedent for longer tenures, as Pete Rozelle retired after nearly 30 years in the job in 1989.

The NFL released a statement confirming Roger Goodell’s extension as NFL commissioner through 2027. He has held the position since 2006.

When asked about his legacy, Goodell focused on the future rather than reflecting on the past. He expressed dedication to the job and his determination for the next term.

“I’m honored to do this job and it’s not going to change how I do my day to day,” Goodell said. “For the next three years, I’m going to give it my all.”
