Exciting updates are coming from the training ground this week as Chelsea gear up for their upcoming match against Newcastle United on Saturday.
Firstly, Christopher Nkunku was spotted in full training on Wednesday. While it’s unlikely that he will start right away after being out since the summer, his imminent return is generating a lot of excitement. Nkunku was instrumental to the team’s preseason performance and with his return, the team’s creative dynamic is expected to elevate, especially when combined with the current starting trio of Cole Palmer, Raheem Sterling, and Nicolas Jackson.
In addition, Wesley Fofana confirmed through his Instagram that he returned to the training ground yesterday for the first time since tearing his ACL during preseason. This marks tremendous progress considering it has only been four months since the injury and subsequent surgery to replace the torn ligament. Rehabilitation for ACL injuries has come a long way indeed!
While Fofana is likely still many weeks away from full fitness, his potential contributions during a season that initially seemed lost to him are something to look forward to.
