Two-time WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart and her wife Marta Xargay are now proud parents of their second child. In an Instagram post on Sunday, Stewart announced the birth of their son, Theo Josep Stewart Xargay.
“Welcome to the world, little man,” Stewart wrote in the caption. “He weighed 11 lbs., 12 oz. (your mama was a trooper).”
The couple initially shared the news of their pregnancy on Mother’s Day in May. During the New York Liberty’s exit interviews after the WNBA Finals in mid-October, Stewart revealed that their baby boy was due the following week. On October 25th, Theo was born.
Stewart and Xargay also have a daughter named Ruby, who has become a regular presence at Stewart’s games and postgame press conferences since her birth in August 2021.
While Stewart has previously played in international leagues during the offseason, she told the New York Daily News last week that she has not yet made a decision about playing overseas this offseason. The Liberty have plans to use the core designation on Stewart to keep her in New York, as she is a free agent.
“Once we settle into the routine of having two kids, which I’m not sure when that will be, we’ll figure out the rest,” Stewart said regarding her plans for the offseason.
