Reports indicate that free agent linebacker Shaquille Leonard completed his visit with the Cowboys and is now set to visit the Eagles on Wednesday.
According to various sources, Leonard’s visit with the Cowboys was successful, and the team is satisfied with his health.
However, Leonard is exploring his options before making a decision on his next team. Having interest from the top two NFC East teams gives the Leonard camp leverage in negotiations.
A decision from Leonard is expected by the weekend.
With the Cowboys playing the Seahawks on Thursday night and the Eagles playing the 49ers on Sunday, it is unlikely that Leonard will join his new team until at least Week 14, when the Eagles and Cowboys face each other for the second time this season.
Philadelphia is currently leading Dallas by two games in the division.
On the injury front, the Cowboys have lost linebacker Leighton Vander Esch to a season-ending neck injury, while the Eagles have linebacker Nakobe Dean on injured reserve and Zach Cunningham suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni, who previously served as the offensive coordinator with the Colts, could provide an advantage for the Eagles if the deal terms are similar between the teams.
“Made a lot of plays, that’s for sure,” said Sirianni, via Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports. “He had a knack for the football and how to get the football. What I remember is just how, as an offensive coordinator, how hard he was to throw around. His length was comparable to Jim Boeheim’s 2-3 zone at Syracuse. He’s going to make a play in the passing lane.
“He was a great teammate and I really enjoyed being around him. I still have a relationship with him. I think he is a great person, great teammate.”
