Given the crossroads the Mystics are facing in choosing their direction forward, this is perfect timing.
The 2024 WNBA championship odds have ranked the Washington Mystics fifth according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
The odds are as follows:
- Las Vegas Aces, +120
- New York Liberty, +230
- Connecticut Sun, +850
- Dallas Wings, +1000
- Washington Mystics, +2500
- Indiana Fever, +3500
- Los Angeles Sparks, +4000
- Minnesota Lynx, +4500
- Atlanta Dream, +5000
- Chicago Sky, +5500
- Seattle Storm, +6500
- Phoenix Mercury, +6500
Considering the Mystics’ presence in the playoffs last year and their ability to contend for a championship if not for multiple player injuries, the ranking isn’t particularly surprising. Assuming they bring everyone back, starting with Elena Delle Donne, the Mystics can become dark horse contenders once again.
However, Washington is, at best, a dark horse contender. The recent championship wins by the Las Vegas Aces and the rising New York Liberty make it challenging for the Mystics to be outright championship contenders without some “help”, such as injuries to those teams, the Sun, and Wings, while retaining their core and adding another major free agent in the process.
