Parsons, Prescott, and the Cowboys faced criticism after their 42-10 loss to the 49ers in Week 5 but rebounded with a victory over the Chargers on Monday night. In contrast, the Eagles and 49ers, both heavy favorites, suffered losses in Week 6, prompting Parsons to question why Dallas’ rivals don’t face the same scrutiny.
“I don’t condone the bashing of Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys without giving the same energy to the Eagles. We should have the same energy for everybody because there’s a lot of bashing when it’s Dak Prescott, but not the same for the Eagles,” said Parsons on his podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons.”
The Eagles lost their first game of the season to the New York Jets, who intercepted quarterback Jalen Hurts three times. Parsons acknowledged star right tackle Lane Johnson’s ankle injury but argued that the Cowboys’ offense performed better against the Jets than the Eagles did.
Parsons went on to address the 49ers, who celebrated their victory over the Cowboys before being surprised by the Browns. He criticized a Fox Sports analyst for excusing the 49ers’ loss due to injuries to Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel, pointing out that the Browns won despite missing key players like Deshaun Watson, Nick Chubb, and Jack Conklin.
“We deserve the same respect as other teams. If you’re going to hate on Cowboys Nation, just say it. But don’t throw shade on us while making excuses for others. Keep the same energy for everybody,” expressed Parsons.
Despite Prescott’s struggles in San Francisco, he bounced back with a solid performance against the Chargers, leading the Cowboys to a 20-17 victory. Parsons defended his quarterback and team, stating, “I’m tired of people trashing my quarterback, my team. That’s why I had nothing to say to the media this week.”
The Cowboys will face the Rams after their Week 7 bye and then take on the Eagles in a highly-anticipated matchup on November 5th.
