In a surprising statement, Pakistan cricket legend Javed Miandad expressed his opinion that Sarfaraz Ahmed was the more suitable candidate to lead the Test team in Australia, as opposed to the newly appointed Shan Masood.

Miandad emphasized Sarfaraz’s experience and past success as captain, stating, “It is clear that Sarfaraz is a very seasoned cricketer and has done well as captain before for Pakistan and if he had been made captain it would have been vital for the team in Australia which is a tough place to tour.”

He further added, “Sarfaraz Ahmed should not only be included in the team against Australia, but due to his experience, he should have been the captain.”

Furthermore, Miandad criticized the recent appointments made by the board, particularly the selection of former players as key personnel in the team management. He stressed the importance of maintaining a significant age gap between coaches and players in international cricket to ensure respect and discipline within the team.

Referring to the removal of Babar Azam as captain from all formats, Miandad expressed concern about the potential negative impact on the team’s performance in the future.

In a scathing critique of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Miandad questioned the trend of hiring foreign coaches, highlighting India’s success with homegrown coaching talent. He pointed out the success of India’s recent coaches, including Anil Kumble, Ravi Shastri, and Rahul Dravid.
