Expert DFS Recommendations for Today’s Six NHL Games
The long holiday weekend may be over, but fear not. We still have NHL action to keep you entertained. I’m here to offer some guidance on which players to target and steer clear of for your DFS lineups. With six games on the slate, here are my top recommendations:
GOALIE
Darcy Kuemper, WAS at SAN ($28): While several top goaltenders will be in action on Monday, I’m bypassing them all for Kuemper. The Sharks have struggled to score, with just 1.62 goals and 24.5 shots on net per game. With a .915 save percentage over the last five seasons, Kuemper’s potential for a standout performance is too good to pass up.
GOALIE TO AVOID
Andrei Vasilevskiy, TAM at COL ($35): Vasilevskiy’s return to the Lightning lineup will be tested by the formidable Avalanche, who have averaged 3.75 goals per game.
CENTER
Vincent Trocheck, NYR vs. BUF ($19): Trocheck has been on a hot streak, tallying points in six consecutive games before a brief dry spell. Despite uncertainties about Buffalo’s starting goalie, the team’s 3.33 GAA and mediocre goaltending make Trocheck a solid choice.
CENTER TO AVOID
Elias Lindholm, CGY vs. VGK ($17): Lindholm faces a tough matchup against top-level goaltending. With the Flames’ lineup in flux, his shooting percentage may not improve against a solid goaltender like Logan Thompson.
WING
Tom Wilson, WAS at SAN ($17): With nine points in 17 games, Wilson’s scoring potential is evident. The Sharks’ weak defensive play, allowing an average of 37.0 shots on goal per game, makes Wilson an appealing pick.
James van Riemsdyk, BOS at CLM ($16): Van Riemsdyk’s recent point-scoring streak and Boston’s opponents’ vulnerability on the second leg of a back-to-back make him a strong choice.
WINGS TO AVOID
Alex Tuch, BUF at NYR ($22): Tuch faces a tough road matchup against the staunch Rangers defense, boasting the lowest GAA in the NHL.
Vladimir Tarasenko, OTT vs. FLA ($17): While Tarasenko has had success with the Senators, the Panthers’ strong defensive prowess and limited opportunities with the extra man make him a risky option.
DEFENSE
John Carlson, WAS at SAN ($23): With 11 points in 17 games, Carlson is an offensive asset for the Capitals. His penchant for generating offense with a low shooting percentage makes him an intriguing option against the defensively challenged Sharks.
Aaron Ekblad, FLA at OTT ($18): Despite a brief points drought, Ekblad’s shot generation and Ottawa’s weak goaltending make him a promising choice.
DEFENSE TO AVOID
Victor Hedman, TAM at COL ($20): Hedman’s success may stall against the Avalanche’s stingy defense and solid goaltending, reducing his scoring opportunities.
Zach Werenski, CLM vs. BOS ($19): As the Blue Jackets face Boston on the second leg of a back-to-back, Werenski’s prospects for contributing offensively may be restricted by a strong Bruins defense.
