Anthony Martial’s future at Manchester United is uncertain, with his contract ending this season, as confirmed by sources to Football Insider.
Martial, 27, played a crucial role in Erik ten Hag’s team during their 3-0 victory against Everton on Sunday (26 November).
Reports suggest Manchester United might consider letting Martial go in January if they receive a suitable offer.
However, a well-placed source has revealed to Football Insider that Manchester United will only agree to Martial’s departure if they first secure another striker in the new year.
With summer signing Rasmus Hojlund yet to make an impact in the Premier League, the club does not want to be short-handed.
Martial has scored his second goal in 16 appearances in all competitions this season, having started in just five of those games.
Additionally, the French international’s contract is set to expire next season, but Manchester United has the option to extend it for another 12 months.
Last season, Martial was a more frequent player but managed only nine goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.
He reportedly earns around £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
Since joining Manchester United in 2015 for an initial fee of £38.5million, Martial has accumulated 90 goals and 55 assists in 314 appearances.
Following the win over Everton, Manchester United currently sits in sixth place in the Premier League.
Ten Hag’s side faces Galatasaray next on Wednesday (29 November) with their Champions League future in the balance.
