2023 LPGA Tour Season Ends with Record-Breaking Performances and Milestones
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 20, 2023 – The 2023 LPGA Tour season culminated with extraordinary performances, setting the stage for an even more promising 2024 season. The year was marked by remarkable achievements from athletes worldwide and a groundbreaking increase in prize winnings.
2023 Season-Ending Awards
Lilia Vu made history by earning the 2023 Rolex Player of the Year and the 2023 Rolex ANNIKA Major Award following her major victories at The Chevron Championship and the AIG Women’s Open. Meanwhile, Atthaya Thitikul clinched the Vare Trophy with an impressive season scoring average. Angel Yin’s accomplishments included her first LPGA Tour victory and capturing the Aon Risk Reward Challenge.
In terms of prize money, 28 players earned more than $1 million, with Vu leading the Official Money List. The annual LPGA Rolex Awards recognized outstanding players, such as Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year Hae Ran Ryu, Founders Award winner Lexi Thompson, and Heather Farr Perseverance Award winner Jane Park.
Additionally, the 2023 CME Group Tour Championship in which Amy Yang secured her fifth career LPGA Tour title marked the conclusion of the CME Group Cares Challenge – Score 1 for St. Jude, raising $1.3 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
2024 Look Ahead
Looking ahead to 2024, the Tour announced an exciting schedule that will include 35 events, the highest total prize fund in Tour history, and more network television coverage. Notable events will be the inaugural FM Global Championship, the 2024 Olympics in Paris, and the 2024 Solheim Cup at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. The season will also feature the return of the LPGA Q-Series and the introduction of the Grant Thornton Invitational, a mixed-team event that will showcase players from the LPGA Tour and PGA Tour competing for equal prizes.
