Liverpool could recall 4 loanees in January as Fabio Carvalho snub continues – Liverpool FC

Lack of Minutes for Loaned Liverpool Players Raises Concerns, Fabio Carvalho Struggles at RB Leipzig

Liverpool currently has 17 players out on loan, but only a few of them are regular starters for their respective clubs due to injuries.

Calvin Ramsay and Adam Lewis have valid reasons for their absence, but that cannot be said for Fabio Carvalho, James Balagizi, Billy Koumetio, and James Norris.

All four players were left out of their clubs’ recent fixtures, with Carvalho being the only one to make the matchday squad as an unused substitute for RB Leipzig.

Carvalho has played just 195 minutes out of a possible 1,080 across all competitions (18.1%).

Meanwhile, Balagizi has been overlooked for six out of the last seven league games for Wigan, and Koumetio has missed four of the last five matches for USL Dunkerque.

Norris, who was questionably substituted just before half-time by former Tranmere manager Ian Dawes, has been on the fringes under interim coach Nigel Adkins.

He has missed the last six League Two fixtures for his club and has not even made the squad for five of those games.

If this lack of opportunities continues, Liverpool may consider terminating the loan deals of Balagizi, Koumetio, and Norris in January.

Carvalho could potentially be recalled early, but it might be challenging due to the significant loan fee paid by Leipzig for a season-long deal.

On a more positive note, players like Sepp van den Berg, Tyler Morton, and Harvey Davies have been getting more game time, all playing the full 90 minutes in their recent fixtures.

Jakub Ojrzynski has also claimed the No. 1 spot at Den Bosch, playing the full 90 minutes in their latest match.

In addition, Luke Hewitson kept a clean sheet for Stalybridge Celtic, and Luca Stephenson made a cameo appearance for Barrow.

Nat Phillips was rested in the last game for Celtic, likely in preparation for the upcoming Champions League match against Atletico Madrid.
